I'm Jay Reddy Bujala, an engineering manager and builder in the San Francisco Bay Area. I write here about data platforms, product engineering, distributed systems, applied ML, and AI-assisted delivery — mostly things I've shipped, broken, or figured out at work.

At Super.com I lead teams as a player-coach while staying more than 50% hands-on. I've led four teams over time across Data Platform, Payments, and Member-Growth; built the pharmacy (Rx) vertical from zero; designed the Payments Hub and Risk architecture; and shipped Kafka/Snowflake platform work (including a Snowpipe Streaming migration that cut ingestion cost ~60%).

I also founded and scaled Super's company-wide AI Technical Guild from 11 to 50+ engineers, authored our AI-First PDLC baseline, and established Claude Code / MCP reference workflows for planning, review, and verification. A recurring theme of my work — and of this blog — is evidence-grounded, human-gated AI in the delivery loop: agents draft, humans review, the work ships.

Before Super: applied-ML and NLU work at Dynamicly, fraud-surveillance and derivatives-pricing systems at EY, and C++ market-risk systems at Tata Consultancy Services. Across all of it, 13+ years of product engineering, data platforms, and playing-coach across the stack.
